This week I had my final presentation with three critics that gave constructive feedback to my design. Their overall feedback was quite positive, it included:
I might chose think about including a children's area
they asked; what specific kind of women is this fitness centre for?
-it is for urbanised women who predominantly work in the city centre and who are relatively young adults who feel the need to have an extra measure of safety when it comes to feeling sexualised and avoiding assault, and who would benefit from a safe and supportive community of other women.
The facade does not feel welcoming or evoke feelings of safety and should be changed
- I completely agree, the materiality of the exterior of the building is quite dark and looks intimidating and not very safe and inviting. I will change the design of the facade to appear lighter and more friendly.
- White painted brick replaced the pre-existing dark stone cladding and appears cleaner and emphasises the gold accents and beads in a more effective way to enhance that inviting feeling.
